family trees and six degrees
'Six Degrees'
During May 2024, I invited participants to be drawn into a 'handmade family tree' which connected us all through the social theory of 'six degrees of separation'
Across six hours, I traced the outlines of 48 people recording their family name and where they felt represented home for them.

The work measured 3 metres long and 1.5 metres in height to successfully record the silhouette, family name and home place of each person.
The youngest person drawn was 9 months old and the eldest person recorded was 78.

In the evolution of her practice the artist has begun adding self written text to accompany her visual works to investigate to what extent these words add more weight to the finished piece.
